Fly Eagles Fly! Redskins Struggle with Eli!

    Night Before the Eagles Game

So after surviving our third and most intense blizzard, we stopped in to stay with some friends for the weekend near Philadelphia. We slid in to a parking spot and to a welcomed, home-cooked Italian dinner, wine, awesome company, and some limoncello. It was a great way to spend the evening after driving 25 mph down the 95. After dinner, we ventured downstair and started the flip cup tournament, where some people found new talents that they never knew existed. I had a few rough starts, but then it was one or two flips the rest of the way. I guess you would have to say, we’ve had a lot of practice.

The morning always comes too early, but luckily the game time got switched to 4:15 pm instead of 1:00 pm. We then got up and started the shoveling process to get the RV and cars out from the two feet of snow. Luckily we had the help of a nice man you brought over an industrial strength snow-blowing machine. That saved us about two hours no joke. So we packed up the RV with some drinks and people and headed over to the Linc! It was packed but the traffic wasn’t bad at all. We had a tough time finding a spot, but talked to some cool Eagles fans who let us park next to them. We pulled out the TV, put on some football and hung out. I went to the game by myself, and enjoyed the Linc for the second time in two weeks (The Army / Navy game was played there). The fans were crazy and the Eagles played well. I think the fans were a little more respectful than the Giants fans, but then again, if the Giants were playing in Philadelphia, I’m sure I would have heard some cursing and chants from the Eagles fans. But it was a good time watching the Eagles clinch a playoff spot and help the Cardinals clinch their division as well. The Cards won earlier versus Detroit and since San Fran lost, the Cardinals won the NFC West for the second year in a row.

    Philly Snow Storm Aftermath

We chilled out finally after a crazy week in NYC after the game. It was nice to relax and hang out with some good people and spoon with the Woolly Mammoth. So with some good rest and full bellies, we said goodbye to our temporary family and headed south to get ready for the Monday night game in Washington. We stopped at a Walmart in Maryland that was more crowded traffic wise, than any we’ve seen in awhile. And Aaron was driving, so it was pretty entertaining. The problem was traffic lights and snow covered parking lots, but we needed antifreeze for the dump tanks to unfreeze them. We had a few successful stops, dumping our tanks and getting water and propane and then headed to the FedEx Field. We rolled straight to the stadium and kept getting waved forward and then right in front of the stadium, a guy in a golf cart told us we needed to go to the “Ron” Burgundy Lot. We told him that we knew that and didn’t know how to get there. So he kindly escorted us to the lot and he had a pretty good spot in front and next to a “Kid Rock” bus, but unfortunately he wasn’t with the bus.

The Washington tailgate might have been our most professionally looking tailgate. We set up pretty quickly and we had the tent up, the TV outside with ESPN and speakers, food in a warming trey, chips and dip, and a few cold beers. We also set up the heater to keep people warm and the beer pong table for entertainment. We had a few friends on their way from the Metro, but a few random people stopped by and hung out and dominated the table for at least five to ten games. They were impressive with their skills but Aaron and his teammate finally took them down. They gave us a few tickets to the game that were awesome and much appreciated. It is amazing the people you meet on such a trip. Our friends finally showed up and the party was started.

    DC Tailgate

The game itself was pretty pathetic for the Redskins unfortunately. The Giants just dominated them in every way and made it a very frustrating game to watch as a Redskins fan. The highlight of the game, besides the fantastic seats, was probably when a Redskins fan made some snow balls and threw them at the Giants bench and hit a few players. They immediately pointed at him and the security guards flocked in force and “escorted” him out. So after the game, we enjoyed some more food and beverages and a few foot races up a snow hill. All in all, it was a great tailgate and adventure.

It was a great weekend of football and I even made it to my fantasy playoffs and won this week to go to the finals next week. I went from last place to top three back to just out of the playoffs and squeaked in sitting third in the standings. But my team rocked this week and I am ready to win the title next week. You would think that we would be so good at fantasy since we are at games every week, but we are usually setting up the tailgates, going to the games, and entertaining, so the fantasy priority tends to off to the bottom. Aaron and Nolan both fell to the bottom and all three of us were last place early in the season. But once the bye weeks stopped and I didn’t have to worry about switching all my players, I started to do better. Let’s see if I can have a great week next week to take home the championship!
