Downtown, Uptown, Anytown: Charlotte was the Place to be!

We spent a good 35 hours driving from Phoenix to Charlotte this week. It was a long drive but manageable and we made it to Charlotte with time to go to lunch with Nolan’s grandfather before the festivities got under way. We were actually the first RV in the lot so we got dibs on the spot upfront. It took a little while to get the energy to set up, but after Aaron and I threw the football and Nolan took a nap, we started the grill and got the tables set up. We played a few games of water pong and I was on fire. I won five games in a row versus both Aaron and Nolan. I could not be beat. Then our friend Greg popped in and I continued my reign for another five games. At that point, Nolan started his 15 minutes of perfection and beat all of us for several games. So basically, Nolan and I were unstoppable for the evening. Right before I went to the game, Aaron and Greg challenged the dual of Nolan and I, and the outcome was obvious, with Nolan and I taking down the crown!

The game was pretty exciting and the stadium was respectable. Ricky Williams, though, almost beat the Panthers single-handedly. With three touchdowns, I wish I had him on my fantasy team this week. (It didn’t matter though, I won anyway!) After the game, I met up with the guys at a local bar district in downtown, wait, I mean uptown Charlotte. We had a local try to explain to us the difference between downtown and uptown. Basically we felt it was the same thing as the difference between a gold jacket and a green jacket. We just went to the bar district and had a few cocktails. You see, we had a nice setup in Charlotte because it was the first sanctioned parking that allowed us to spend the night in the spot for a little extra money. I believe that every team should have an option like that. It could end up being a lot safer and possibly be a better financial option for teams. So we all enjoyed a few cocktails at an uptown bar. We enjoyed the evening, but the rest of the night is just too blurry, or interesting, that I will leave out the details. We ended up going back to the RV and passing out watching ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
