    RV and Lambeau

We visited Green Bay in December to get the best experience possible at a legendary field. And it did not disappoint. The weather was chilly, actually, it was down right cold. I put on three layers and a ski jacket and I was still shivering. A few cold beverages helped take the bite out of the air though. I didn’t realize how fashionable it was to wear your hunting gear to a Packers game. I saw more orange in Lambeau than I did when we watched the Cincinnati Bengals play. But I’m sure those fans stayed warm.

We arrived early and pulled next to the two RVs already there. They were all Baltimore fans. Then a few minutes later a couple buses filled with Ravens fans pulled in. What was going on with all these Ravens fans coming to Green Bay? But that was about all the Baltimore fans we saw, and at the game, it was not recommended to be wearing the other team’s colors. I think most of them donned neutral color garbs to keep warm. The Packers fans in the parking lot were all great. We had a good time talking to the fans surrounding us and the parking lot attendants. I think I could like this town if it weren’t bitterly cold.

    Nate and Mike at Lambeau

I have been looking forward to watching the Packers play in Lambeau Field pretty much since the start of the season. The history, the fans, the cold, and a Monday night would all contribute to a great game. I was surprised of how open it was in the concourse. Plenty of room to move around and mingle with the other fans. I suppose when everyone has snow suits that make you feel like you are in the Christmas Story, you need that much room to get around. Once we got to our seats, I was in awe of the shear beauty of the stadium. It instantly became my favorite despite the cold air and the freezing metal bleachers. And all the fans around us were saying how nice the weather was: crazy fans! But the fans were all great and we enjoyed cheering for the “Pack” together. If you were rooting for the Ravens, you might have heard the cheer, “Blow Flacco” followed by “Go Pack Go.” It was a lively crowd, especially with the Packers winning.

    Lambeau Field

The game itself was pretty ugly with seven turnovers and plenty of penalties. I think the Ravens fans were a little discouraged when they found out Ed Reed was not in the lineup for MNF. Rogers tried to take advantage of Reed’s absence and threw three touchdowns but also had two interceptions. He and the Packers did come out ahead though and it made for a fun evening. I even saw Cheesehead Greenman cheering for the Packers. So with a victory, the Packers are looking good for a NFC wild-card birth. It was their fourth win in a row and everyone in Green Bay is getting excited for the postseason. They will have one challenge that might not matter, but they will have to face the AZ Cardinals in Glendale for the season finale. As much as I liked the fans and people of Green Bay, I will be rooting for the Warbirds come January 3rd.

The weather turned ugly pretty quickly. We spent the night at the parking lot and woke up to about an inch of snow and more falling. I guess this storm was the same one that went through the southwest a few days ago and we are currently following in its wake to Cleveland. We are making our way as far East as we can tonight to make the morning commute a little less hectic and in case more snow accumulates on the roads. Luckily it is not too bad yet and we will keep an eye on the conditions as we drive further. Thanks for all the concerns.
