    Big Trouble in Little Texas

    Cowboys Stadium

Alright, we have finally left the retched city of Dallas – I mean that in the most sincere way possible.  I like Dallas but not hotel-hopping when the Rollin’ Palace is being worked on for a week, that should have been a 2 day maintenance job.  Oh well, so we’re rolling and headed to the Windy City hopefully getting there early Friday afternoon.  We were scheduled to get there Wednesday or Thursday so we could go out to the infamous bar districts near downtown.  Nonetheless, it was a great day in college football, on Saturday, as my Arizona Wildcats beat a Pac-10 foe in Oregon State.  Nice job, C-A-T-S!

    Reliant Stadium

This past weekend in Dallas was a mess.  We went golfing on Friday and played horrible, I am blaming the dew on the course, as we played early morning (I don’t think the dew was the problem, I think my swing was).  That night we proceeded down to the hotel bar, with everyone in town for the wedding on Saturday.  We eventually loaded up a few cabs and went uptown to celebrate further, mistake!  On Saturady, everyone woke up from oblivion, not knowing if the past night was a dream or reality.  Later on that day, we attended the wedding of my brother’s friend: Matt and Jenn (Congrats and thanks for letting us attend!).  Open bar tends to lead to debauchery but we kept it pretty much under control, however we generated a large dance party that everyone enjoyed or so it seemed.  After a couple of hours of restless sleep, we had to drive to Houston; well I had to drive to Houston, which was very unpleasant.  We made it safely and watched the Jacksonville Jaguars and Maurice Jones-Drew run all over the Texans Defense.  The Texans played well but could not over power the Jaguar’s high powered rushing offense.  Schaub had over 300 yards passing and a few touchdowns, which is why the Texans traded for him; but they still lost. The real story was Jones-Drew who played like a Pro-Bowler rushing for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns.  If a running back rushes for a 100 yards and 1 touchdown, I think that is extremely good game, having 120 yards and 3 touchdowns, WOW simple as that.

    Cowboys vs Panthers

I do not know how Jerry Jones can spend a billion plus on a stadium but Cowboy’s Stadium is worth every penny.  From the outside, made of glass and concrete and probably NASA space material; to the inside have the world’s largest and record setting TV on each side stretching from the 20 yard line to the other 20 yard line, extremely aggressive and impressive.  I expected it to be a better game considering it is a Monday Night Football game in one of the coolest stadiums every built.  The Carolina Panthers played well for some of the game then faltered.  The Dallas Defense stepped it up, sacking Delhomme 3 times and intercepting him twice; with one turing into a “pick six.”  I lost fantasy football this week by 1 point because of the Dallas Defense, thanks.  Tony Romo played decent as he got the ball where it needed to be most times, but didn’t throw for a touchdown.  He had opportunities but couldn’t finish them; he did have players drop touchdown passes though.  The Dallas running backs rushed very well (Jones and Choice), garnishing almost 200 yards of offense and a touchdown (Choice).  Felix Jones went down in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury, hopefully he’s alright because no one wants to see a serious injury in a good player. Nick Folk kicked 2/3 for field goals which is decent considering he is a Arizona Alum, he should have been a perfect 3 for 3.

Chicago will be a blast whenever we get there, considering our Recreational Vehicle didn’t get fixed.  Thanks guys for attempting to fix the problem and saying you fixed it, I really appreciate it.  Notre Dame-Washington game on Saturday in South Bend, which will be awesome because I have always wanted to go to an Irish game, and finally getting to attend one.  We got da Bears vs the incompetent Lions; the Lions are rolling right now so this should be an interesting game.  This will be a big tailgate because we have lots of friends and family in Chicago.  If you are there in Chicago this weekend, come to the Alder Planetarium Lot with the other RVs.  You can’t miss us; we will be the people playing beer pong and getting wild grilling some amazing food.

Here are my predictions for this weekends games I am attending: Notre Dame 31, Washington 24; Chicago Bears 35, Detroit Lions 21. I think Notre Dame is getting better under Charlie Weis, and Jimmy Clausen is leading the Irish to a bowl season this year; however they aren’t as strong as they once were and they can never win the big game. I consider this a big game for Notre Dame because Washington went winless or won 1 game last year (I can’t remember but they were bad) but the Huskies beat USC a couple of weeks ago and are getting better under quarterback Jake Locker, who is a very good duel threat player. I love a quarterback that can pass the ball then burn you on a 30 yard run. I picked the Chicago Bears, well for a couple of reasons. The first is that I root for the home team unless my Cardinals or Wildcats are playing. Secondly, da Bears are playing the Lions. Come on the Lions won their first game in 20 games after going defeated in 2008; which I think is pathetic. Thirdly, I have Jay Cutler and Greg Olsen on my fantasy team so I am hoping for a good game out of Cutler, in which Cutler should throw a few touchdown passes to Olsen. I do not think the Lions are bad this year, I think they win 4 this year and won’t be the worst team in the NFL. I am a fan of Stafford and the offense so we will see.
